Why are both the sink faucet and hose shooting?

when i turn on the water to wash dishes, i sometimes use the sink hose thing, but recently when i try to use it both the hose and sink shoot water. idk if thats bad or normal but i used to only be one shooting at a time. like i'll use the faucet then switch to the hose to get grease or whatever and the faucet would cease using water and only the hose would shoot, but now they both shoot when i use the hose. is that bad? can i make work like it used to?
