Do dogs tend to "inherit" the behaviour from their parents?

I just noticed that my labrador who is now 2 years old whenever he drinks, he drinks straight from the faucet and not on its bowl. This is the same with his mother. The way he sits is also similar to the way his mum does. So I was just wondering. Thanks.
