Is pouring hot water on poison ivy rash bad for me?

I got a poison ivy rash and it itches a LOT. I was going nuts till i did what I do sometimes for itching bug bites. I put the affected area under hot water rom the faucet and held it there for a few seconds. Not only did the itching stop after I removed it from the water but I got a very pleasurable sensation from it while it was in the water. Can I treat the itch this way though?
